When life gives you lemons... I guess?

November was a heavy month around these parts. How is time speeding up and slowing down at the same time? I know I’m not the only one feeling this heaviness. It settled in with the early darkness, the short-lived snow on Toronto’s streets, and the sudden rush of holiday décor that reminds us the year is somehow already ending.

I haven’t been a big holiday person for years now, and I know many of you feel the same. This season no longer looks the way it did when I was younger. The people who carried the magic, like my grandma, have long passed, and it feels like they took the joy of this season with them. Add to that the pressure to be “in the spirit,” the gift-giving, the decorating, the reflecting… all while quietly realizing that another year has come and gone. There are so many moving pieces that the emotions feel layered by nostalgia, grief, overwhelm, softness, stillness.

This month also humbled me in ways I didn’t expect. I got sick twice which is something that almost never happens, and so much has been unfolding outside of my control. If there has been one lesson weaving through all of this, it’s been control: how little of it we truly hold, and how often life invites us to surrender, trust, and release our grip. There’s been instability, uncertainty, and moments where nothing made sense… and yet, there have also been pockets of celebration that carried me through.

One of those bright spots was hitting 1000 followers on Instagram. It reminded me that even in the heaviness, community continues to grow, expand, and find me. I’m already dreaming and planning for what’s to come for Nubian Divinity and beyond in 2026. Life gives you lemons, sometimes they’re sour, sharp, unexpected, but they also add flavour. They balance a recipe. They remind you that even the uncomfortable moments can enhance something bigger that’s still coming together.

The holidays can be a charged time, especially when layered with personal grief, responsibilities, and the unseen emotional labour many of us hold. So here’s your gentle reminder: take control where it’s yours to take. Loosen your grip when life asks you to. Let the ebbs and flows move through you knowing that guidance is always present, even in the quiet, even in the uncertainty.

This isn’t about toxic positivity. I don’t shy away from the heavy, and I won’t pretend everything is light just for the sake of a newsletter. What I will commit to is realness by sharing the journey as it is, not as it “should” be, and walking alongside you as I continue seeking my own clarity, peace, and direction.

This month, I had the honour of being a vendor at the Toronto School Administrators’ Association (TSAA) 2025 conference, which was a beautiful opportunity that reminded me how quickly this year has unfolded since I was invited at the beginning of this year and it felt far away at the time.

The theme centered on leadership, growth, and the evolving needs of our educational communities, and I was grateful to contribute a perspective that often goes unspoken in traditional or corporate spaces.

I shared with attendees how Nubian Divinity bridges intuition and leadership, and how deepening our inner knowing can strengthen clarity, decision-making, and connection within our teams. Bringing tarot and intuitive practices into a more conventional setting felt like a powerful expansion of this mission, and I’m excited to continue integrating these tools where they’re needed most.
